We see many patients who exhibit symptoms almost like dyslexia. If someone is exhibiting these symptoms and doesn’t have dyslexia, they’re likely affected by a vision problem and that we can help.

If an individual experiencing these symptoms does have dyslexia, we will help improve their visual efficiency and visual processing, but we don’t treat the dyslexia. Our approach, however, will allow an individual to be more aware of educational instruction.

What are the related symptoms?
The indications that are collective by people with dyslexia and other people with vision difficulties include poor eye tracking, poor eye teaming and perceptual issues. These problems can cause words on a page to seem to maneuver or be reversed.

What can be done to differntiate between the two?
A functional vision exam will establish whether the matter may be a visual one. There are cases where a person has both dyslexia and vision problem. In these cases, vision therapy should be a part of a multi-disciplinary method, one that also involves education and counselling.
