Primitive reflexes are automatic movement patterns present from birth that help early development such as positioning, feeding, and motor responses. Normally these reflexes integrate during the first year of life as higher brain functions mature.
When primitive reflexes remain active, they can interfere with neurological organisation and may contribute to challenges with posture, balance, visual coordination, learning, behaviour, sensory processing, and attention. Signs may include poor coordination, hypersensitivity, handwriting difficulty, motion sensitivity, learning challenges, or visual tracking problems.
At Caring Vision Therapy, primitive reflex integration is combined with structured vision therapy to improve neurological regulation, visual efficiency, and functional performance. Treatment plans are personalised based on a comprehensive functional vision evaluation.
